Reach for the max

Okuma's Makaira spinning reels ate in a class of their own featuring a forged stainless, machined MAXGEAR®

. While most reels in this category feature bronze, aluminum or machine-cut stainless steel gears, Okuma's Makaria spinning steel main gear. We ported the main gear and incorporated other design elements to keep it light weight enough to fish all day. Internally, the pinion gear and heat treated spool shaft are 17-4 grade machine-cut stainless steel. They are rust-proof and optimized to work with brained line and high-output drag. MAXGEAR® reduces vibrations that can potentially frighten your next catch. We made no compromises in the internal design of the MAXGEAR®.
